And the nation calls...

Majulah Singapura. Onward Singapore. Yes, I'm a Singaporean. And I'm a guy. Add these two things together and the fact that you've turned 18 usually means only one thing. National Service. Yes. They've sent me my enlistment letter. They've assigned me to the police force.

Seriously, when I got the letter, I had mixed feelings. On one hand, I felt happy because I'm finally going to NS. I'm finally going to get NS over and done with. I'll get to meet new people. I'm finally going to be able to join in a conversation with my friends when they talk about NS. Heck, I'll even get to use the jargon of NS. But on the other hand, I've gotta kiss teenage life goodbye. I'm not gonna have too much freedom for 2 years. I'm gonna see less of my family and friends. My love life might suffer. (Not that I have a love life anyway but let's pray shall we?)

Oh and guess what? My enlistment date is on the 8th of December. It was actually supposed to be in February. But I got to go in 8 weeks earlier because I have to attend the PTP. (Physical Training Phase) This PTP thingy is supposedly for unfit (NAPFA Bronze and below) NSmen. Which by the way, totally isn't me. They assigned me to the PTP because I last took my NAPFA test in 2007 and NAPFA results are only valid for a year. What a bummer. So, I'm going to take my NAPFA test next Wednesday at Toa Payoh Stadium in a bid to postpone my enlistment date to February. Really hope I can do it because I ain't as fit as I used to be. Yes. Time has taken its toll. I know I ain't that old but Father Time's an ass. It's amazing how much damage can be done in so little time. Anyway, wish me luck guys!!

It does not matter how slow you go.
So long as you do not stop.
