Abstinence

Fasting month is coming. Honestly, I dread it. But I have mixed feelings about it. I dread it because it means no food and drinks in the day for one whole month. No cursing and swearing. Not even feeling angry. I do, however love it because it means weight loss. That is if I don't gorge myself at night or not fast at all. It means I'll have more money because I'll not spend so much money on cigarettes, food and drinks. It also means that Hari Raya is only a month away!!

Whenever I mention the word 'fasting month' to my friends, the unanimous reply would be; "So?". This is because in the past few years I've not been abiding by the rules. So much so that the term 'First day, last day' has been used time and again whenever this subject is brought up. For those who are not familiar with the term 'First day, last day', it means to fast on the first day and the last day of the fasting month only, for the sake of formality. And for the record, I am actually not proud of myself to be able to explain what this term is.

I think its time to change for the better. No more skipping fasting. And Eugene, if you're reading, no more 515 chicken rice during fasting month too. Its time to get rid of this cliché that has been synonymous with myself.
